Dear Subscriber,
The painting season is over and the thin yellow light of a fresh winter is here. In painting it's been my most prolific year so far, and I've completed many old works that have sat waiting patiently to be painted. I'm still making progress technically. The best is yet to come. My latest paintings will be added to the website over the coming weeks.
There are a few up and coming exhibitions of my artwork; one painting is on show in Keele University Gallery as part of the Three Counties Open, and early next year Jobling Gowler in Macclesfield will show a few of my paintings alongside the prize winners of this year's competition. A second solo exhibition in the shop Sevens in Macclesfield has been booked for next April, too. That is set to be my major exhibition of 2012 and I will save a new and amazing painting for that. Thanks go to Terry and Beatrice for the opportunity.
New group www.artupclose.org is a hub for local artists and will host a new event next year. This is the team that held the Nantwich Festival of Arts 2011, so local artists in particular will benefit from joining. Thanks to Lindsey Piper and Midge Ace for their enthusiasm in promoting Cheshire art!
Now for me it's a new start and I think my art will shift away from the occupations of the past couple of years and into something new. My next big project is to complete The Love Reliquary, a gilded cabinet that I've been working on for many months and will features plaster carving as well as painting and lots of intricate woodwork. This will be completed within three months.
My album of songs Black and White is on hold until I can find a singer. If you know a singer who would like to sing some original pop music then please send me an email. In the mean time, that album will wait quietly and I can think about some new instrumental music...
My primary goal for this month is to make some videos for YouTube of my existing music. Too few people have heard it and it's important to spread the word as far as possible.
