As The Gods Looked On And Laughed

Push.
Heave,
the rock.
With oily sweat,
under burning sun.

Slab,
iron grey.
Boulder.
So heavy.

So long to go.
So long and far.
So soft sand, under step.
Aching legs.
Aching arms.
So tired.
So hot.

Breath,
but can't rest.
Must move.
Must.

Drag, too slowly.
Hear it.
Slide in dust.
Every joint hurts.
Every muscle weak,
but must push.
Heave,
the rock.
With oily sweat,
under burning sun.
