James Cameron In The Park

I've seen these trees one thousand times,
in lunches by,
since she died.

I've seen that day
from far away,
and seen her face in her daughters eyes.
Echoed in photographs.
Absent from weddings
and schoolday goodbyes.

I've sat right here on days since then
and thought about the war.
I've seen these trees one thousand times
but did not look before.
