G83A The Only Symbiosis Of Ivy Oil on canvas board Mar to May 2006 Size 386x488 mm |
|
About this painting This painting was inspired by a competition to paint British plantlife. Ivy is a parasitic plant and not a symbiote. That notion is explored here, and as such the painting represents the loss of freedom by force. The alien looking plant fits into a landscape from the planet Mars, its smooth green tones complimenting the cracked desolate desert. The perfectly rendered yellow and violet flesh tones hold their own against the unusual salmon pink of the Martian sky. |
