About this painting
Painted as a response to an article that mentioned a lack of imaginative abstract paintings, I thought that a square apple being eaten by a circle would be a good idea. The circle is a feminine shape so the story of Eve in the Garden of Eden seemed a logical setting.
A square apple is occluded by a circle. The frills enhance that shape's femininity, while simultaneously biting the apple. Eve is spotted, a red cheek of shame. Shame at the discovery of her infraction by the eye of God in distant heaven. |
