About this painting This was painted for the annual competion held by my art group. Although subconsciously concienved, I interpret the wasp as representitive of energy and inventiveness. The colouration is notable here. A powerful green ground was used, then an underpainting in turquoise. As colours are releative, the turquoise makes subsequent grey glazes appear pink. In daylight the flesh tones are pink and realistic but when the picture is turned to the shade they become an eerie green.
