G120A Monsters of Spring Oil on wood Aug to Oct 2007 Size 234x336 mm

About this painting The original title was Fears of Spring in this painting about the emergence of sexuality. The hedge-like objects form monstrous versions of the rampant horse in this picture. Red phallic flowers can be seen spouting from one hedge. A unicorn's horn, itself a symbol of virginity, points skyward and above its sharp point a rope dangles, something to grasp to avoid falling and becoming impaled. |
